Slipring & Variable Speed Motors

A slip ring motor, also known as a wound rotor motor, is an asynchronous motor that is designed with a rotor that has windings. Unlike synchronous motors, the speed of a slip ring motor is not locked or synchronized with the frequency of the power supply. This means that the motor can operate at different speeds depending on its load and the amount of resistance in the rotor circuit.
